Terms and license

These terms cover the Afinar app for Mac and this website. These terms are between you and Afinar LLC, which makes Afinar. How to reach us is on the legal notice.

A new app

Afinar is new and still changing, so expect rough edges, features that move, and the occasional thing that breaks. If something goes wrong, write to support@afinar.app. It is read by the person who made Afinar.

Ways to use Afinar

The free recorder. Afinar’s recorder is free for everyone. Download it, record yourself playing along with music from the apps on your Mac, and keep your recordings. There’s no trial, no card, and nothing to buy.

A free first year. If you applied to the Afinar beta, signed up at Guitar Summit 2026, or got a personal invitation before Afinar’s public release in October 2026, your first year of the full Afinar is free. It’s personal to you, and it runs for the period stated in the personal link we send you.

Paid plans aren’t on sale. Before they are, this page will say what they cost, who handles the payment, how you cancel, and what happens when a paid year ends. Nothing on this page commits you to paying for anything.

Using it on your Macs

Use Afinar on the Macs you own. There’s no device count and nothing to deactivate.

You may not decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer Afinar, or extract its code, models or bundled tones, or try to, except where the law that applies to you allows it. Open-source parts of Afinar keep their own licences, listed in the app’s About window, and this term doesn’t limit what those licences allow.

What stays yours

Everything you make with Afinar belongs to you: your recordings, your videos, and the tones you add. It all lives on your Mac. We claim nothing over any of it, and your recordings and scores are never sent to us.

Afinar sends us how you use it and any errors or crashes only if you agree when you first open it, and you can change your mind in Settings. It never sends your audio, your recordings, your scores, or your song titles. The privacy page sets out exactly what it collects.

Other people’s material

Afinar lets you practice with music, scores, and lessons that belong to other people, including music playing in other apps on your Mac. Some services don’t allow their music to be recorded, and following their rules is up to you. You’re responsible for having the right to use what you bring in. Afinar doesn’t supply music, and it doesn’t give you any rights over material that isn’t yours.

What we don’t promise

Afinar is provided as it is, and while Afinar is new, that matters more than usual. It’s built carefully and tested hard, but no software is perfect, and we can’t promise it will suit every purpose or work with every audio interface. Keep your own copies of anything you care about.

Nothing here takes away the rights you have as a consumer under the laws of the country where you live.

Ending

You can stop using Afinar whenever you like. We can end or change the beta, including a free beta year, if we have to stop offering Afinar or if someone uses it to break the law or harm others. If we ever end your access, everything you made stays on your Mac and stays yours.

Changes to these terms

We’ll post any change on this page with the date it takes effect. A change that affects a paid plan won’t apply to a year you’ve already paid for.

Which law

New Mexico law and US federal law apply. If you’re a consumer, you keep the protection of the consumer laws of the country where you live, you can bring a case in the courts where you live, and we can only bring one against you there. Otherwise, the state and federal courts in New Mexico decide.
